Improving Your Online Course (IYOC)

Improving Your Online Course (IYOC)

The Improving Your Online Course (IYOC) workshop is a hands-on, face-to-face session designed for faculty who teach fully online, hybrid, or web-enhanced courses. Facilitated by a QM-certified instructional designer, this workshop guides participants through a review of their own course using the Quality Matters (QM) Rubric. You’ll identify areas of strength and develop a course improvement plan aligned with national best practices in online teaching and learning. Completion of this workshop is required to participate in GCSC’s peer review process and is the first step toward enhancing your course design for improved student success.

The IYOC is part of the Quality Design Initiative, which promotes continuous improvement through supportive, research-based peer reviews. Each internal review includes feedback from both a faculty peer and an instructional designer, focusing on how well your course meets QM Essential Standards. Reviews consider the student perspective and evaluate the course's clarity, organization, and overall design. Faculty who complete the QM peer review process are eligible for a one-time incentive payment of $500 or $1,000, depending on hire date and timeline benchmarks. Please note that incentive payments are contingent upon available funding.
